The Process

Step 1:

Request Training from our TIPS trainers by completing and submitting a request form. Within 24-48 hours of the request, one of our trainers will contact you to set-up a TIPS training session that works for you. The trainer will then respond to let you know their cost and when they are holding the session.  If you have a group we suggest the trainer come to your location and train at your location.  If you need one on one or smaller classes, the trainer can meet you at your location or will pick a location that is public (This is usually the best option if you have less than three people who need training).

The trainer will need access to a TV or projector with an HDMI cable hook up

Step 2:

Everyone should arrive early and eager to participate.  There will be breaks given, however, to remain on schedule we will keep them limited.  The class is broken up into several sections; lecture, video, and practice.  Everyone must participate in all three in order to be eligible to take the test. The exam is given at the end of the class.

We will need a list of the participant’s names at least 1 week prior to the session.  Each participant will be provided a training manual that has been previously assigned a workbook test code valid for that person only.  (Please note that valid proof of ID will be required).   Adding participants at the last minute can be done only if enough training manuals are available.  Please understand that the price per person is based on the total amount of participants originally discussed in the initial consultation.  All changes should be made 7 days prior to the session date.    Any last minute changes to the number of participants may or may not result in a change of price.

Step 3:

There is an exam given at the end of the session that everyone must take.  There is a 40 question and a 50 question version and it will be passed out at the end of the lecture and practice portion of the class.  There is no time limit on the test, participants may take as long as they need.

Step 4:

Upon passing the test, you will receive an email list of all participants and their TiPS certification numbers approximately 10 - 15 business days after the session. This is valid proof that your staff has taken and passed the Tips course even though you may not have the cards yet.  Included in the cost is the processing of the exams and the distribution of the certification cards.  However if you need cards sooner there is a rush service available that will yield results 24 hours after cards are received by HCI and have your TiPS cards in your hands within 5 business days after the session.  Otherwise your official TiPS cards will arrive roughly 10 – 15 business days after you receive the email from Health Communications Inc.  All TiPS cards are valid for 3 years. In the unlikely event of someone failing, they will be given a new answer sheet and can attend another TIPS class within 6 months (at no extra charge) to retake the session and complete the exam.
